Vaginal warts can vary in size and shape depending on the individual. Let’s talk about how to prevent vaginal warts, identify if you have them, and how you can treat them if you do.
Vaginal warts can resemble warts like what you have on your hand. They can be large in size or they might be small. Some warts can almost look like cauliflower shaped clusters or tiny bumps. They are also called genital warts and can feel like a hard bump.
If you suspect you have them they can be diagnosed by taking a Pap test. This is something that your doctor can do and it is a simple procedure.
Depending on your age you may also take an HPV test as well as your Pap test. With this test doctors are also looking for signs of cervical cancer.
Vaginal warts can grow inside or around the outside of the vagina. Many times people who suffer from them do not even realize they have them.
They will come more often in people over 21 who are sexually active with more than one partner. They are extremely contagious.
Depending on the size they can be easy to treat. Smaller warts can be treated by applying medication directly to the infected area. Large warts might have to be removed surgically or frozen off.
Using condoms is one way to prevent vaginal warts. If you suspect you or your partner have them you should consult your physician and determine the proper treatment from that point forward. Ignoring them will not get rid of them.
